Trimester Abortion Services
At our Center, the fee for abortion services covers all counseling
(life situation options, questions about the procedure, and birth
control), all lab tests, medical screening, the surgical procedure,
sonogram, recovery room care, post-op medications, and a follow-up
visit. The average length of stay at the Center is 2 - 3 hours.
First trimester abortions are performed by a Board Certified Physician
between 5 weeks and 11.6 weeks after the beginning of your last
regular period. The surgical method used is vacuum aspiration,
which is a safe gentle suctioning of the uterus. You can choose
local anesthesia, under which you will be awake but receive medication
to numb the cervical area, or you can choose twilight or general
anesthesia which is an intravenous sedation. After the abortion,
you will spend up to one hour in the recovery room, where the
medical staff will monitor your condition until you leave the
facility. You will be scheduled to return for your follow-up checkup
in two to three weeks.
